Inaugural Bridal Veil Shoot in Ireland

I have envisioned doing a professional photo shoot for Classic Veils for quite a long time. As the saying goes, "good things come to those who wait." Although I wasn't necessarily waiting (more like procrastination), and I admit I was partly afraid of what a photo shoot entails. It turns out the wait was well worth it and the photo shoot was a lot of fun!

It has become a bit of a laugh for people we meet and explain how we landed in a small town in Ireland. My husband and I pretty much threw a dart at a map and landed on the river banks of a pretty town called Carrick-on-Shannon in Ireland. We have become quite fond of our new town and what it has to offer, especially the multi-talented, entrepreneurial minded residents and the lifestyle they are able to live. I get inspired and motivated to extend Classic Veils and Love & Lavender into the off-line world by starting a wedding venture.

Carrick-on-Shannon is the type of town where everyone knows each other; if they don't then somebody they know will. I asked for suggestions as to who I should hire for a wedding photo shoot and kept hearing one name in particular: Fiona McGuire. She's a local photographer whose focus is portraiture and weddings. Her amazing work speaks for itself.

My vision for the Classic Veils photo shoot involved beautiful architecture with character, soft photography that interacted with light, and stunning photos that captured my veils in a real world setting rather than a studio with a fake backdrop.

Fiona and I met for the first time at a local coffee shop. We were on the same page right from the get go. However, like any wedding day where a bride worries that something wont go as planned, I was a little nervous that surely some unexpected problem would surface. The luck of the Irish was with us, and as so many brides say after their wedding day, "don't sweat the small stuff!" It is so true!

Fiona pulled together a local team of vendors: a model, florist, makeup artist, hair stylist and dress maker. The 3 hour photo shoot went off without a hitch. The weather was perfect, the lighting was great, and the team all worked together so naturally. It was inspiring. I am ever so grateful for the time and effort everyone put in to bring the vision to life.

We ended up killing two birds with one stone because my husband was able to capture his line of wedding neckties (Groomties) as well. He loved being the 'male model' for the day!

It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to future styled shoots with an amazing team of creative gals!
