Maggie & Eric
A Classic Wedding at the Wrightsville Manor & Gardens in Wilmington NC
08/07/2022
Theme: simple, classic, natural outdoor wedding ceremony
Congratulations to one of our brides; Maggie! Who looked truly beautiful on her wedding day. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful photos with us! Read on for more details about this classic, timeless wedding and some much needed advice from a real bride.
The Veil
If your wondering about this gorgeous custom made veil, Maggie chose a single tier, 72” length, standard cut veil. The color tulle she chose was sparkle Ivory which shimmers so beautifully in the sun! A perfect complement to her lace gown.
Love Story
From the bride: Erik and I are both teachers from Indiana and met while working in the same school district. I was a 5th grade teacher and he taught 6th grade across the street at the middle school. We first bonded over our love of teaching, hiking, travel, and family. After three years of dating, Erik proposed on top of Looking Glass Rock in Asheville, NC. North Carolina is very special to us because it is where we first vacationed together, where I lived for a year, and where Erik proposed. It is also where we ended up getting married! We now both teach 6th grade math in the same school and love every second of it!
Ceremony & Reception Theme
We are both very simple people, love neutral colors, and wanted a classic vibe that would stand the test of time. We had the guys in black suits and the ladies in beautiful champagne dresses. Our venue, Wrightsville Manor, was truly stunning and allowed us to keep things simple, yet beautiful. We put a huge focus on OUR love story and what made us Erik and Maggie. We wanted our guests to feel welcomed, loved, and have an amazing time!
Bridal Look
I had a very specific vision for what I wanted to look like on my wedding day. I wanted a classic, simple, form fitting dress with straps. Of course, when I went shopping I fell in love with a beautiful strapless lace gown. The dress truly made me feel like a bride! Even though I loved that dress, I still couldn’t get my original “look” out of my head! I went shopping for fun a few weeks before the wedding and found a beautiful, form sitting, satin dress with spaghetti straps. It was perfect so I ended up doing a dress change for the reception so I could wear both! I felt like both dresses fit the day perfectly and it allowed me to show two sides of my personality.
When it came to finding a veil, I wanted something that would compliment both dresses and add subtle elegance to my overall look. Classic Veils had the perfect selection!
Gifts & Favors
We are very sentimental people and wanted every aspect of our wedding to reflect Erik and I as a couple. Our gifts were no different! We had personalized jewelry made for the mothers and for the bridesmaids, I made them each a bracelet with a pearl from North Carolina.
Our guests received hand painted coasters. It added a fun touch to the tables and guests loved being able to take them home as well!

DIY
We hand painted drink coasters for every guest. All of our table numbers included photos of all the different places we traveled as a couple. I also designed all the signs including the menus, invitations, welcome sign, bar menu, and seating chart. It was so fun watching your designs come to life on the big day!
We also have a tradition of taking a polaroid picture for special moments. Our guestbook allowed the guests to take a polaroid picture and leave a note. It is our absolute favorite thing to look through and we will cherish it for years to come!
Honeymoon
As teachers, we do most of our big travel in the summers. Instead of going on a honeymoon right away, we opted for a one year anniversary trip to Greece, Italy, and Australia. We absolutely love to travel and see new places so this was a no-brainer for us. We got married in Wilmington, NC, and we were able to stay on the beach for a few days after the wedding. It was honestly very nice not having to worry about packing or paying for a honeymoon right after the wedding. It also gives us something else to look forward to. I highly recommend this!
Wedding Planning Tips & Tricks
Erik and I planned our wedding in a little over 5 months. We knew we wanted to be married and were ready to start our life together! With a short time frame, we had to plan quickly, but I wouldn’t change this for the world. We focused on what truly mattered, which is having all of our favorite people in one place celebrating the beginning of our forever. It is so easy to get tied down with little details, but I can truly say they don’t matter in the end! People will remember how they felt on your wedding day, not what they ate, what flowers looked like, or what your bridesmaids wore. If I could give any advice to future brides, I would say have fun! Surround yourself with positive people, enjoy the little moments, and make sure the big picture is always your #1 focus.
Also, get a wedding planner. Seriously. They are fairy-godmothers for brides and allow you to have a stress-free wedding day. Our wedding planner was Katie Lange from Bubbly Events and she was AMAZING!
